Richard Adam

Richard Adam

  • Biography

Richard Benno Adam was born into an artistic family and received his initial education in painting from his father, Emil Adam. Richard later went on to receive a formal artistic training from the Munich Academy of Fine Art and the State Academy in Karlsruhe. Adam spent most of his career painting finely detailed equestrian portraits for members of the European nobility including the famous portrait of Kaiser Wilhelm II in military uniform seated on a horse. Later in his career Adam became a professor at the Munich Academy. Throughout his life Adam never found the need to exhibit as his sought after equestrian commissions gave him a steady flow of work.
