Adrianus David Hilleveld (Dutch School, 1838-1869)
Adrianus David Hilleveld was a student of both Valentijn Bing and the marine painter Abraham Hulk. Hilleveld became a painter of highly romantic beach, sea and river views, paying a lot of attention to the picturesque effect of light and shadow, which he also uses to underline the drama of a scene. During his lifetime he exhibited in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague.
